About

Scioto River and the Logan Elm. From Dublin through downtown Columbus and south toward Chillicothe, the Scioto runs 231 miles at an average of 1,800 CFS through Franklin and Pickaway counties. The 15-mile stretch from Dublin to downtown Columbus flows dam-free through an urban greenway, while the 30 miles from downtown to Circleville transition from suburban to rural landscapes. Below Circleville, 40 miles of river cross the Pickaway Plains in what locals call the historic corridor. At optimal flows between 500–3,000 CFS, the Scioto offers riffles rather than true rapids — this is moving water but not technical whitewater. The Scioto Mile development in Columbus and Scioto Audubon Metro Park provide access points along the urban sections. USGS gauge 03227500 tracks the main stem flows.
