Jarbidge River, Nevada-Idaho — 2009 Owyhee W&S Wilderness. From Jarbidge town through 30 miles of Nevada's most remote canyon country, the Jarbidge River cuts through the Jarbidge Wilderness in Elko County at an average of 45 CFS. The upper 10 miles from town to Pine Creek run through wilderness canyon with Class I-II water, while the lower 15 miles to the Bruneau confluence drop into deeper, more isolated terrain. At optimal flows of 20–100 CFS, this is technical low-water boating that demands precise boat handling and scouting. USGS gauge 13162500 tracks the flows, though at this volume even small changes matter significantly. The river remains eligible for Wild & Scenic designation but has not yet received formal protection.
