Georgia Scenic River Candidate · Shoal Bass Conservation

Northeast Georgia's premier Piedmont river — the Broad flows 60 miles through rolling farmland and granite shoals between Athens and the Savannah River. Home to the endemic shoal bass (found nowhere else on earth outside the Chattahoochee and Flint basins), the Broad offers gentle Class I–II paddling over granite bedrock with excellent fishing and a pastoral landscape untouched by development.

Data Quality

River conditions are community-verified. CFS ranges, difficulty ratings, and trip sections may not reflect every flow level or seasonal change. Always check current conditions, scout unfamiliar rapids, and paddle within your skill level. If you spot an error, use the Improve This River button at the top of the page — your local knowledge is what makes this atlas accurate.
