The upper 30 miles from Bartow to Bowling Green stay narrow and intimate, while the 40-mile stretch from Bowling Green to Arcadia opens up into the prime fossil-hunting corridor. At 680 CFS average with an optimal range of 200–2000 CFS, the Peace handles a wide flow window better than most Florida rivers. The state has designated it as a Florida Paddling Trail, with the Peace River Canoe Trail marking the route. Canoe Outpost operates along the river for paddlers who need gear or shuttle service.
